Dr. Sherri Carithers grew up in Athens, Georgia and decided at an early age that she wanted to become a veterinarian after trying to nurse her puppies back to health after they were diagnosed with parvovirus.
After graduating from high school, Dr. Carithers attended Tuskegee University and graduated in 1996 with a BS in animal science. She also earned her Doctorate of veterinary medicine from Tuskegee University in 2000.
Since graduation, Dr. Sherri has worked in several animal hospitals as a small animal veterinarian in the Atlanta area as well as performing high volume spays and neuters at Paws Atlanta. Dr. Carithers has lived and worked in the Covington area since 2005 and in January 2008 decided to open a full service mobile veterinary clinic.
Since opening Paws&Claws, she has worked with and advised several rescue groups, spoken to and mentored numerous young and aspiring veterinarians through local community programs and as a speaker at countless career day events.
During her free time Dr. Carithers enjoys traveling, cooking and spending time with her husband, Will and their daughters Chantel and Jasmyne. Her four legged kids include 3 dogs,Charlotte, a terrier mix, Max and Raven, South African mastiffs and Rocky the cat.
Our veterinary assistant is Dawn who has been with Dr. Carithers since 2014.
